Show the World... with Flix
If a picture tells a thousand words, a video tells a million. If you were clever enough to get an Airkix DVD of your flight, why not show the World what you did?
First, Capture your video
Windows users
Every Airkix DVDs includes a Windos Media Video (WMV) file that you can open directly into Windows Movie Maker. That's important because your DVD may include other flyers, and (of course) you need to edit them out so it's just you (and people who've given permission) that are in the video.
Mac Users
To play WMV files Mac users will need to download Flip4Mac. You can then export your movies to an iMovie-friendly format for editing.
Alternatively you can download Handbrake, a free piece of software which will "rip" the video files from the DVD... again into an iMovie Friendly format.
Next, edit your videos
Your Airkix DVD's will include the flights of you, your friends and (perhaps) people who you don't know. Either way your going to want to edit the video so it's just about you.
Window's users can make use of the Window's Movie Maker, Mac users can use iMovie. Simply import your video file into the application, edit together your movie, and export.
Last, Share them with the world!
YouTube gives you a fantastic way to share your Airkix experience.
If you don't have an account you can set one up from YouTube's homepage by clicking "Sign Up".
Once your account is set-up follow the site's easy instructions to upload your video. If you get stuck check out their excellent help pages.
Get inspired. See all the Airkix tagged videos on YouTube or visit the Airkix YouTube channel.
Other Places to use your Video
Of course you can also upload photos to your favourie Social Networking site. Here's how:
- Flickr: Now allows videos of up to 90 seconds to be added to your account.
- On your Mobile: Mac users can save their video as ".3gp"files and upload them via bluetooth.
Bonus, Show your YouTube video on your own site or blog
The really cool thing about YouTube is that you can play your video right in your own web site. Simply check out the "embed" options to the right of your video in YouTube. You'll see some code to copy, which will be something like this.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MLrPeeYRBng&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=
0x6b8ab6"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MLrPeeYRBng&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x2b405b&color2=0x
6b8ab6" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
This code get's copied into the HTML of your web page or blog, and once you do that you will see the embedded video, like this.
