Man and coach at Airkix

Partners

Airkix is constantly developing links in the communities in which we live and work, both geographical and social.

Charities

We work with a number of charities and offer them support where possible.

Two Fat Submainers

Two Fat Submariners

For 2010-11 we have elected to support 'Two Fat Submariners, Barry Bishop and Steve Mills. These guys captured our imagination in what they wish to achieve and how they are going about it.

Most importantly they will be supporting three charities that all the Airkix staff also wanted to help; Help For Heroes, Make a Wish and NSPCC.

Their chosen method is to take on three grueling events starting with a Lands End to John O'Groats cycle ride in July 2010, a marathon in September 2010 and a leisurely swim over the channel in June 2011.

They have managed to find some great supporters and offer fabulous auction items as well as being fun to follow on their website. We wish them every success.

Motivation

Motivation is our favoured national charity. Additionally we work with our customers to try to help them achieve their charitable aims.

Charity Requests

Pudsey

Please note that we get literally hundreds of requests for free flights for charitable fundraising and whilst we would like to support them all, it just isn't possible.

We therefore tend to favour our chosen charities.

The Tunnel Manufacturer

SkyVentureWe are proud to be using the finest, state-of-the-art vertical wind tunnel in the business. SkyVenture from Austin, Texas produce several models from 10ft to 16ft diameter. (Airkix is 14ft in Manchester and 12ft in Milton Keynes - see here)

It's all hooked up to the Olympus Camera Control software and some special secret Airkix software that gets it to you in no time at all! Have a look at some of our pix.

Skydiving

Skydiving

Many people who fly at Airkix decide they could make a jump and get their 'skykix'. Our staff are well qualified to advise as we have a number of very high profile jumpers working at Airkix.

Our partners in skydiving are Skydive Airkix so why not visit the website; www.skydiveairkix.com.

Sponsors

Airkix has two amazing facilities and they provide a fantastic way to engage an audience as they come to fly. We have a number of sponsorship opportunities and welcome your interest.

SPONSORSHIPS

We have also decided to sponsor some up and coming flyers ourselves! Better still they are also available to fly with you! (see Groups and motivational hosts).

At this stage, most participate in some form of skydiving and the use of our wind tunnel can help accelerate their skills and competitive results.

TEAM AIRKIX - COMPETITION SKYDIVING TEAM, BRITISH WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM AND WORLD RECORD HOLDERS TEAM AIRKIX WERE CROWNED WORLD CHAMPIONS ON 10TH AUGUST 2006 AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN GERA, GERMANY.

The most popular form of competitive skydiving is Formation Skydiving or FS. It is usually teams of 4 or 8 and they are required to complete a number of pre-determined manoeuvres and formations in a given time. Britain had the distinction of having won three gold medals with an all-girls team called V-Max who retired, however one member, Claire Scott, formed a new team called Team Airkix and supported by us.

They went on to claim a World Record and gold medals at World and National Championships before disbanding. Claire is still actively working with Airkix and is available to work with you too.

AL & SWIFTY

Swifty flying at Airkix

You’ll need to go a long way to find more inspirational individuals that Al Hodgson and Darren Swift. Both were victims of terrorist activities and lost both legs in separate incidents. Many people may have called it a day at this point and settled for the quiet life but not these guys, this is where they started living.

Al runs a skydiving ‘freefly’ school and is British Champion along with his wife Pixie. Freeflying is very 3-dimesional and skydives can be on your head, a sitting position or any combination you can think of compared to the traditional ‘belly to earth’ freefall.

If you run a team, do yourselves a favour and ask Al and/or Swifty to be your hosts. They’ll talk to you about overcoming adversity, focus, achieving goals and a whole lot more and they will host the group and show you how to fly in the tunnel too! Airkix support Al & Swifty in their endeavours.

FORMER RED DEVILS

Airkix also likes to try and work with various others and this includes former members of the Red Devils from the famed Parachute Regiment and they are also available to fly and coach at Airkix with you. We will continue to spot new talents in Bodyflying and we will always ensure that all our customers benefit from these relationships. See our motivational hosts page or Groups section for ideas.
